I wanted to do this article some time ago and title it “Creative/constructive things to do during your alone free time”. I took my sweet time before posting it and unfortunately, we got hit by this pandemic Covid-19. Honestly, there are days when I can’t think of anything else but it. I feel like we were all just comfortable building on with our lives then got seriously humbled by a worldwide pandemic. It scares me. The fact that even the biggest nations are unable to manage it. But what I do know is, we will survive it and live to tell about it. It’s scary knowing that you might be 14 days away from leaving earth or 14 days away from losing those you love. I know, I am aware that life has no guarantees but this Covid-19 thing has hit differently. Life is fragile, delicate, can be taken away in the blink of an eye.
Truth is, our stories are different. Some of us will survive, some of us won’t. May those who have left us Rest in Eternal Peace. For everyone who still has breath, may we learn to appreciate life as it is – a gift. Make it your mission to follow the solutions available, take care of someone else by listening to what the experts advise.
As it is, outdoor activities are on the lock-down (sorry extroverts and boy! am I going to miss travelling). To stay sane as humans under lock-down, here are some activities one can practice (as we await the freedom we once had and took for granted);
INDOORS ACTIVITIES
Grow your spirituality
We are all imperfect humans and some of us yearn for a deeper relationship with our maker. If the time to reconnect with Him and deeper at that is not now, then when? Am often listening to this pastor on YouTube who I feel preaches like Myles Monroe (I like it) on David Christian Center youtube/channel/davidchristiancentre and youtube/channel/kingsleyokonkwo
Read a book or listen to podcasts
Something to challenge your mind, something to make you question your whys. Or just something to entertain you and give you a good laugh. With apps like Anybooks Anytime Anywhere, Goodreads and Amazon Kindle, you can access a variety of reads. A friend gave me these podcast recommendations: Serial, BBC: The Assassination, Amani Maranga podcast, Slow Burn, Totally Football Show Podcast, Dr. Death, The Chernobyl Podcast.
Other reading apps which I find intriguing; Medium and Quora. I like Quora in that it’s a Q&A of real-life issues. So you get to read people’s stories and experiences.
Medium has deep articles which you won’t find elsewhere on the internet – it has a limit on the number of articles to read unless you subscribe to their paid plan of 5 dollars per month.
Take the famous Personality and temperament tests
Discover something about yourself. Like the actual name of your personality. There are many across the internet. I’ve done the 16 personalities and the other to look out for is; the four temperament tests
Start a blog
As easy as operating a new application on your phone. If you like to write and want to share it with the world, a blog is your go-to. See posts I’ve written before on blogging. my-blogging-journey/ how-to-start-blogging/ how-to-maintain-your-blog/
Write out your will
For young people, we don’t have much to our names but even the little we have matters. So why not challenge yourself and write out a will. You can even go a step further and jot down your future will. Then work towards it.
Make how-to videos
Today, almost everyone has a YouTube channel. It is free and easy to create and manage. So why not show the world how you do what you do. Make someone else’s life a little easier. Thing is, you don’t even have to put your face in it, you can be creative around it. Even have a specific mask that will make you unique to the audience. Then, have bomb content and you’ll see, they will keep coming back curious when you will reveal your identity. Something like marshmellotheartist

Take up a new course
Whether related to your job or not, as long it’s beneficial to you. There are many courses on life skills which are either free or paid for on udemy and coursera .Clueless? Here are a few suggestions; first aid, public speaking, new language.
Learn a new skill
We all feel a nudge to do better at something that we feel we are mediocre in. Go sharpen it and be proud of yourself when done. Then integrate it into your day to day flows.
Learn to cook your favorite meal/drink
These days everything is on the internet. Take advantage and learn how to spice up your normal meal routine. Or learn a foreign dish.
Learn the mechanics of your car
One of my fears is driving alone and the car breaking down with no help around. If you feel this too, I think it’s time we learned the mechanics of cars.
Painting classes
My being sort of yearns for me to hold a colored stick against a blank page/paper and produce/just make something, like just splash color at something. Sometimes while at work and am feeling drained, I’ll get a highlighter and a blank paper and just draw or write. I can only imagine how amazing the painting would feel. Because I get my mind to relax just from drawing on a blank paper.
Play board games
There are a variety of them. Kenya at 50, monopoly, chess, cards, they never fail you. House of leather in Panari Hotel along Mombasa Road is the place to go shop for one. They have so many games on display.
Clear up clutter in your house
We all have clutter which has accumulated over time. Take some time to sort it out, decide what stays and what goes. Give some out to the needy. This event invites new goodies into your house.
Have a film festival where you and your family/friends go through your old photos
I particularly like going into my google photos and sending my friends past photos which they most likely don’t have. It’s a good feeling. And who doesn’t like going through their old photos? Well unless they don’t exist or they bring back bad memories. If it’s neither of those, then make a film of your journey so far, invite those you’d like to share that with and have a laughter and tear-filled time at yours.
Yoga
I’ve always wanted to try it within a crowd but am yet to. I have done yoga through yours truly youtube and it was a good experience.
Create playlists out of your favorite music
For your workouts, road trips and evening walks
Catch your favorite movie or series
This one goes without saying, it’s what my introverted self enjoys doing.
Work your body
Be on your way to your body goals.
Update your CV
I mean, we are still hoping for a brighter future. So polish it, and when time is ripe send it out.
Plan for a side hustle
It is said that you cannot become wealthy with just one income stream. So come up with viable business ideas and kick start it at your own pace.
Think wild
Allow your mind to stray, write it down.
Plot your dream house
Then plan for a visit to your dream neighborhood later on.
I know it might feel hopeless right now. Wondering why fight? Why hope? Why learn? Why try? You are not alone. While we have the chance and strength, let’s do our best. Let’s die knowing we did our best, we died fighting.
Let me know how you’ve been spending your time and which of the above has been beneficial to you.
Let’s keep those hands clean as experts advise. Simply washing hands breaks the protein membrane of Covid-19 thus reducing the spread. Let’s also avoid close contact. Let’s protect one another. Don’t be ignorant. Stay informed since information is power. Read more here; coronavirus/2019

Great article there!
Am doing CBA (creative bases arts) – am crafting birds using wood. I love it so much and will decorate my room with the different types of birds.
