It reaches a point in life where you seek more. More than wealth, more than fame. You seek spirituality. You seek understanding. You seek your soul. You seek yourself. The deeper meaning and purpose of your life.

About Oprah

You’ve probably heard her story many times as it is used to encourage us to never give up on our calling and passions.
If not, here’s a snippet,
Oprah was born in January 29th ,1954 (64 years now). She was sexually abused at a young age.
Within her career, she was told she was unfit for TV. She was a black woman in a white dominated community, you know the struggles, if not, get the book we’re going to need more wine by Gabrielle Union, after you read my review on it of course.

Look at her now, breaking all barriers set for her, she is even on Wikipedia. You only get there when you have tangible achievements, based on available references.

Among other shows that she begun with is the famous Oprah Winfrey show, now she runs Super soul Sunday Show and has a book based on that. Besides that, she is an actress and owner the TV network OWN. Her website link is Oprah. Basically, she is a media personality.

Quite the biography yeah.

She has written about 15 books and I have been privileged to read one; The Wisdom of Sundays: Life-Changing Insights from Super Soul Conversations

About the book

It is a 2017 production segmented into; awakening, intention, mindfulness, spiritual GPS, ego, forgiveness, broken open, grace and gratitude, fulfilment, love and connection. Does that turn you on or get you excited? I know it did me.

So, you are aware that you are body, mind, soul, spirit. Or not.

Thing is, as humans we focus too much on the physical. The 5 senses that we were taught since we joined school. We often forget we are soul and spirit too. The 6th sense that we come to learn about later as we grow up. That inner voice.

Truth is, we are spirits having a human experience.

We focus too much on the physical, how beautiful or built we are, how much wealth we have, yet spirit is our truest original form which we should give equal and more attention.

And true joy in life lies in this realization.

When you become aware you are spirit, just like everyone else, ego shrinks, you care, you understand, you become interested in growing nurturing that spirit, not chasing after vain material worldly things. Your priorities shift.
That’s what they meant by seek first the kingdom of God and the rest will come. As in nurture your spirit, remember we were created in God’s image, well God is spirit yeah, as we are. We are his image in spirit form.
So, seek spirituality then you gain wisdom and then the rest, worldly wealth, God grants you that.
Not to say that you should neglect the physical, the hustle, the venturing. It is to say that you should stop ignoring your soul, your inner being.

But how do I value my soul, you ask. Well, I believe these are a few pointers to start with;

·         seeking your higher being,

·         spending time alone, meditating, listening to yourself, confronting yourself, arguing with yourself, loving yourself, forgiving yourself, all those things you’d do with your friend/lover to maintain a relationship

·         reading,

·         writing,

·         being kind, helping others,

·         pursuing that God given talent

And when you read the book with an open heart, you will have a lot of aha moments, like an orgasm. Like a birth in your soul. A new light.

The one book which will inform you that God is not just the Most High that you should be in awe and fear of, but that He is your friend. He is here with you now. He always has been. You will experience an awakening and feel like crying in the realization that you are not alone, have never been and never will be alone. That you have a best friend. One you can talk to from anywhere at any time. And the beautiful thing is He hears you. Because He is in all of nature. He is in the butterflies, in the sun, in the rain, in the thunderstorm, in the ocean, in the air we breathe, in your hair, in your parent’s smile, in your sibling’s hug, in your friend’s concerned call, in that heartbreak, in that disappointment, in that accident. And when you know all this, you feel a hug from within, a warm embrace.

From chaos to silence.

To trust that your own company is complete because He is right there with you.

It is a personal experience. You need to feel it inside you. By yourself.

It’s also important to note that we are at different stages of our spiritual journeys. So, don’t despair if none of this makes sense. If you are ahead then you must be smiling that more souls are self-searching and finding.

The book is way deeper than my review, and you will only understand when you read it.

So how about you get it and begin or continue your spiritual journey. Trust me, it will leave you feeling all warm from within. Nothing more beautiful than a smiling heart.
