By 4:58 am, I was on the bus, ready to make my way alongside other hikers to Table Mountain.
Me hiking and Uhuru imposing curfews and lockdowns have a certain correlation. He imposed the 8 pm curfew and location lockdown on my first day at the foot of Mt Kenya. Then he lifted the location lockdown and extended the curfew to 10 pm while I was on Table Mountain.
Thank God for many hills and mountains within the lockdown area.
We got there at 8:30 am having done a stopover at Delamere.
The most famous Table Mountain is located in South Africa. It is a to-do list for most tourists visiting the place. The most famous Table Mountain in Kenya is the Aberdares one. Last Saturday, I hiked the Gilgil Table Mountain.
While hiking Table Mountain Gilgil, you enjoy the view of Lake Elementaita, Sleeping Warrior, and Ugali Hills.
It was a quick and easy hike. The tricky part was getting to the summit. It’s very rocky. It reminded me of Lenana Peak.
After summiting, taking in the views and photos, and recharging on snacks, we descended towards the hot spring.
It is a small river where the locals come to bathe and do laundry. At the end is an old, not well-maintained stony structure.
A few of us dipped in the water.
We left Gilgil at 3:30 pm and around 6 pm, we were in Nairobi. I got home before the 8 pm curfew that was set to expire at midnight to usher in the 10 pm curfew.
