Book Club

We are never too old or young to start learning..

So, the other day I updated my WhatsApp status saying am looking for fellows to start a book club with.

Only two out of the roughly 90 views said they were interested. My friends; Sam and Eve.

The read I suggested we start with is ‘THINK AND GROW RICH ‘by Napoleon Hill. Sam and Eve concurred so I sent them the book and suggested we personally read the first chapter and meet Wednesday evening for a review of this and to create a plan for our book club.

I am excited as we start today evening and I have compiled a few notes in advance as it is expected that I run the meet up :). You are free to join us and I shall keep you posted on our progress, (fingers crossed this will be a success).

THE BOOK;

Basically, before you accomplish a desired goal, you need to sit back, in a quiet environment and create a SMART plan – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound. I had to do this and this is what I came up with. The book has 15 chapters with each chapter varying in page numbers from 7 – 29 pages each. Therefore, if we are to meet once per week, it will take 15 weeks (3 months) to complete. But if we do decide to meet twice per week, then in less than 2 months, we shall be done. Oh well, we will decide that when we meet.

So, my questions to Sam and Eve before we discuss on the book will be;

  • What comes to mind when you read the book title?
  • What are your money beliefs?
  • What’s your money worth now?
  • How many income sources do you have?
  • Are you satisfied with your income?
  • What attempts have you made at making money?
  • What are your financial goals?
  • What are your saving and spending habits?
  • What is your personal definition of riches?
  • What are your financial goals?
  • Are you the person you need to become to achieve your goals?
  • What’s your take on education, the 8-4-4 system and the graduate situation in Kenya?

From reading up to the first chapter (pages 0 – 28), the book insists that there’s a secret to thinking and growing rich and that you can find it at the start or at the end depending on your readiness( You know the saying “the teacher always shows up when the student is ready”). In my view, the secret is “know what you want, desire it so bad that nothing will stop you and in the pursuit, you’ll know how to get there”

So ask yourself, what do you desire? Today evening or tomorrow morning, spare an hour, just you, a blank paper(s), a pen and away from technology. Write it, draw it, visualize it; how you see and want your future.

You need to see who you want to be, where you want to go so damn clearly, then nature will pave way, you will connect with the right people, and when you work for it, then my dear, you are going to FLY.

So, pull up your sleeves, work for what you love which is what you’d like to do for the rest of your life. Then don’t carry the attitude that it’s a trial for you, let it be a solemn promise to yourself to achieve.

  • Dream -> Plan -> Achieve -> Repeat
